Explore the cultured village of Mari Mari where you’ll be given the chance to peruse the prehistoric sites and places of ceremonial importance. You will meet the different tribes residing in the area and learn about the history of Mari Mari followed by a cruise on a fiberglass boat through the Klias River.
Our friendly and experienced tour guide will welcome you upon arrival at the airport. Proceed for brief City tour.Thereafter, transfer to hotel for check in.
After breakfast, pick up from hotel and proceed to Mari-Mari Cultural Village. Upon arrival, you will be greeted and prepared for your time-travelling into prehistoric Borneo. You will be given a briefing on the village rules which must be adheared to. You will be greeted by the Chief and go through a custom Welcome Ceremony. You will visit various tribes’ traditional house, such as the Dusun, the Rungus (longhouse), the Lundayeh, the Bajau and the Murut. Then learn bamboo cooking, Montoku (rice wine) processing, traditional fire starting, rope and costume making, Jala (local cracker) making, Pandan juice making and body tattooing which are some of the exciting activities awaiting you in the Village.
Awesome cultural performances at the main hall are not to be missed, especially the famous Bamboo Dance. Then lunch will be served, after which, depart for the Southwestern part of Sabah. Journey takes about 2 hours. Upon arrival, a local Malay style hi-tea will be served. Take a boat for a cruise down for 2 hrs in search for wildlife.
Finally, enjoy an exquisite Malaysian dinner served under glimmering lanterns hug around the lodging. Catch a glimpse of fireflies slowly lighting up and decorating the mangrove trees and listen to the crickets singing.
Then return to the city/hotel. Estimated arrival time at the hotel is 2130hr.
