Helambu Trek

Helambu Trek

Overview
Helambu is a popular trekking region found in northern Kathmandu. Helambu trek begins from Kathmandu and heads towards North with pleasant walks through Sherpa villages and the forest of rhododendron flowers and pine trees. It is designed for those who desire to get close to the mountains within a short period time and in a less touristic manner, where people really enjoy the experience of walking along Nepalese trails and experiencing the daily life of a trekker. There are many Sherpa villages on the way with their own languages and ways of life. This trek takes you through the uphill regions of Shivapuri, and continues to Tharepati before ending up on the Melamchi Bridge, where you will catch a bus to Kathmandu.

The main highlights of the trek are the one-of-a-kind Tamang ethnic group, the Sherpas and their lifestyles, as well as the mind-blowing views of mountains along with other amazing landscapes. This is an easy trek with a maximum height of 3500m. Melamchi is the biggest traditional village en route, and it has a Tibetain Gompa along with interesting farmlands where basic foods such as potato, wheat, millet, and vegetables are produced for local families. Helambu trek is a perfect adventure for those with a small window of time and a desire to experience local cultures and landscapes.
