Jomsom - Muktinath Trek

Jomsom - Muktinath Trek

Overview
Jomsom is the capital of Mustang district, and is known as "windy valley". Jomsom is located 2800meter above sea level in a valley settled upon the bank of tne Holy Kaligandaki River. Its inhabitants are the Thakali,  a very famous ethnic group of Nepal and previously only settled in Thak Khola, but have now spread in other parts of Nepal. Jomsom is the gateway to “Upper Mustang Trek”, which is a restricted area and requires a special permit.

This trek to Jomsom leads you to Muktinath (God of Salvation), which is one of the most popular Hindu temples of Nepal, featuring pagoda-style templesand Buddhist Gompas. There are 108 images around the temple and three natural fires (Jwalamai), which are easily viewable from inside the Gompas. This is an adventure of a lifetime, fusing interesting elements of Nepalese culture and beautiful nature.

Upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, we will greet you and take you to your hotel. We can meet later on that day or the next day to take you to our head office to brief you on your upcoming trek with us. Here, we will introduce you to your trekking guide and Sherpa. If your flight arrives on time, we will take you to one of the most popular local restaurants that serves delicious Nepalese food while offering cultural music and ethnic dance. This will give you a glimpse into the different ethnic groups of the country. If you arrive late in the evening, we can have this welcome dinner the next day.
After breakfast, you will begin a city tour of Kathmandu where you will see the main attractions of the valley. On this tour, you will visit Boudhnath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Swyambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), and Kathmandu Durbar Square (the old palace). After the city tour, we will meet again to check your clothing and trekking equipment (sleeping bag, down jacket and trekking boots). Overnight in Kathmandu.
