Tamang Heritage Trail Trek
Overview
Tamang is of the most popular ethnic groups of Nepal. This newly opened walking trail is now named Tamang Heritage Trail. The villages that can be seen along the trail are; Syaphru Besi, Gatlang, Tatopani, Thuman and Briddhim. This route lies near the Tibetan border. The major highlights of the trek include one-of-a-kind glimpses into an ancient lifestyle, of indigenous inhabitants known collectively as Tamang.

Some of the highlights of Tamang Heritage Trail trek include a night stay at a unique stone village of Gatlang, the healing hot springs up in Tatopani, spectacular views of snowy peaks while climbing up and descending down to Thuman, not to mention the intriguing nature of the locals, with their traditional dances and a complete home-stay style of living in Briddhim. It is a newly developed trekking trail, off the beaten track. This trek offers a great view of Tamang culture as well as the breathtaking landscape of the region. 
Tamang Heritage Trail trek leads to many ancient Gompas (a Gompa is a place where people go for meditation) and to where many Buddhist prayer rocks are setaround the villages and on the walking trail itself. This is a rare and exotic glance into an old and entirely foreign culture
Upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport, we will greet you and assist you to the Hotel. We can meet later on that day or the next day to take you to our head office to brief you on your upcoming Trek with us. Here, we will introduce you to your trekking guide and Sherpa. If your flight arrives on time, we will take you to one of the most popular local restaurants with delicious Nepalese food, cultural music and ethnic dance. This will give you a glimpse into the different ethnic groups of the country. If you arrive late in the evening we can do this the next day.
After breakfast, you will begin a city tour of Kathmandu where you will see the main attractions of the valley. On this tour you will visit the Boudhnath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Swyambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), and Kathmandu Durbar Square (the old palace). After finishing the city tour, we will meet again to check your clothing and trekking equipment (sleeping bag, down jacket and trekking boots). Overnight in Kathmandu.
Our guide will meet you at the hotel as per departure time and takes you to the bus station where your journey starts towards north of Kathmandu through Pasang Lamu highway. The road is well paved till Trisuli bazzar and unpaved to Sybrubesi. You will enjoy the scenery on the way with is beautiful landscape and valley, farm terrace and village as well as snow peaked mountains. Finally you will reach to Shybrubesi. Evening stroll around the town and stay overnight at the lodge.
After hot breakfast at the lodge, an hour and half of ascent walking to reach to the view point from where we can see a fantastic view of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and the Goljang valley. Then the trail leads you downhill to Goljang valley where you stop for the Lunch. The beautiful Tamang village is another 3 hrs walk from Goljang where you stop for overnight at the lodge.
Today is the longest day of the entire trip and will take about 7 hours. The walk begins by descending to Thangbuchet (near Chilime village) by the Bhotekoshi River. You will enjoy the view of Chilime Hydropower dam. After lunch the trail ascends uphill till the hanging bridge. After crossing this bridge, the trail ascend continues until you get to Tatopani which literally means 'hot water'. Stay overnight at the lodge. In the evening you can enjoy natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains. Locals believe that the waters have a healing quality that washes away your aches, pains and sin.
After breakfast, your day starts ascending to Nagthali Danda (3300m) the high open grassland with amazing views of snow covered Himalayas. After taking some rest, continue your walk to Brimdang where you stop for lunch. After lunch the trek continues ascending to Nagthali Danda. One can enjoy the view and spend some time at the top accompanied by tea prepared by the care taker of the Gompa. Then your walk continues down to Thuman, Tibetan influenced Tamang village with interesting lifestyle. Overnight at the lodge.
Begin with an easy walk then descend to Timure en route to the old trade route to Tibet. Stop here for lunch. Rasuwaghadi (Nepal-Tibet boarder) is just 3hrs walk from Timure on the bank of River. After lunch the walk continues to Briddim another Tibetan influenced Tamang village. Home stay at Briddim is a unique experience. All accommodations and foods are offered at individual houses on a rotational basis. Each host family provides clean bed, toilet and a family dining room. You will enjoy the evening with the host family, staying with them, eating traditional foods. Plain rice, Tibetan bread, Syakpa (Sherpa Stew), Potato, Tibetan tea, Briddim wine are served. You will have an opportunity to observe the local indoor rituals and cultural practices with the host family and go on village walks to see the lifestyle, traditions and customs of the people. The locals gather in the evening in their traditional costume, performing cultural songs and dances, welcoming the visitors.
After breakfast, the trek descends down to Syabrubesi which is just 3hrs walk from Briddim. The rest of the day is free. Dinner and overnight at Syabrubesi.
Today, early morning bus drive to Kathmandu. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, we will transfer you to the hotel. You can have lazy day at the hotel or you can do some city tour. This evening a farewell dinner will be provided. Overnight at the hotel.
Today is the last day of the trip with us. If you would like to extend your holiday with us, we will help you otherwise we will assist you to the airport as per your flight departure time.
