Tibet Tour 6 Days

Tibet Tour 6 Days
Tibet lies in the North of Nepal and is a mysterious land of lakes and rivers, mighty snow peaks, and ancient monasteries - with its spiritual air, an unearthly mystical land of Buddhist culture and philosophy. Tibet emerged in the 7th century as a unified empire, but it soon divided into a variety of territories. The atmosphere is severely dry nine months of the year, and average annual snowfall is only 18 inches, due to the rain shadow effect. Western passes receive small amounts of fresh snow each year but remain traversable all year round. Low temperatures are prevalent throughout these western regions, where bleak desolation is unrelieved by any vegetation beyond the size of low bushes, and where wind sweeps unchecked across vast expanses of arid plain. The Indian monsoon exerts some influence on eastern Tibet. Northern Tibet is subject to high temperatures in the summer and intense cold in the winter. Our tour takes you to visit Dalai Lama's Potala and Norbulingka, Barkhor Market and more in Lhasa.

If you arrive late evening, we will do it the next day. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Fly to Lhasa early morning by taking a scenic flight with great views of the Himalaya, including Mt.Everest, Mt.Makalu, Mt.Kanchenjunga and many more peaks. Upon your arrival at Lhasa airport, we will pick you up and drive to Lhasa for overnight.
We spend some days in Lhasa for sightseeing and acclimatization purpose. While we acclimatize, we also visit important landmarks in Lhasa. Our tour begins with a visit to Sera Monastery, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama. Jokhang Temple is another important sacred site which unravels more deep-seated mysteries of Tibetan Buddhism. Then a visit to Barkhor Markets which is quite different from other markets.
Lhasa life certainly offers glimpses into one of the most preserved ancient cultural heritages. Like the previous day, you experience invaluable insights during your visits to Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery. This 17th century Potala Palace offers an awesome view of entire city and also has private quarters of the Dalai Lama, numerous grand state rooms and chapels. Ancient history has it that Drepung Monastery which was built in 14th century used to shelter around 10,000 monks but as now there has been quite a declination resulting in only few hundreds. Tibetans' respect and belief are immensely knotted with this monastery.
Your Tibet trip ends today. We will assist you to the airport for your onward flight. If you are getting back to Kathmandu we will arrange your further requirements in Kathmandu on request and assist you for further holiday if you require.
